West Ham's players returned to Rush Green today for the first day of pre-season following a short summer break.

The first team squad, including a number of players who spent last season on loan were back at the club's training base for the first day of training ahead of the forthcoming 2019/20 campaign.

And they were all welcomed back by manager Manuel Pellegrini, who was also back for the first time since the end of last season.

In addition to the regular first team squad members, some of those players who have been on the long-term casualty list also returned to continue with their rehabilitation.

Winston Reid and Andriy Yarmolenko missed the majority of last season between them through injury, but both were back at Rush Green being put through their paces.

As were new faces such as goalkeepers David Martin and Roberto Jimenez Gago - whilst the likes of Sam Byram and Josh Cullen, both of whom spent last season out on loan, were also back in the fold.

Pablo Fornals, the only player for whom West Ham have paid a transfer fee this summer is expected to team up with the squad after a short break following his exploits with the Spanish Under 21s.
