Marko Arnautovic has handed in a transfer request having told the club that he is determined to leave West Ham this summer, according to reports.

The Austrian international was the subject of a EUR35million bid from an unnamed Chinese Super League club during the January transfer window but opted to remain at West Ham for the rest of the season, after being given an improved salary.

However five months on from that protracted saga, Sky Sports report that the Austrian has asked to leave the club - at the same time that an unnamed Chinese Super League club have launched a EUR22million bid.

Previously linked with both Shanghai SIPG and Guangzhou Evergrande, the latter were thought to be the party behind January's EUR35million offer, which was rejected by the Hammers who valued Arnautovic at ?50million.

Today's lowball offer will almost certainly be rejected by the club, but it is surely now only a matter of time before the Austrian's time at West Ham comes to an end following his transfer request.

Arnautovic joined West Ham two years ago this month, in a ?20million move from Stoke City. Since then he has made 65 appearances for the Hammers, scoring 22 goals.

Prior to moving to England he enjoyed spells with FC Twente, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen, having started his career with local club Floridsdorf, by whom he is honoured in a mural at the club's stadium.
