First Half

0' And we're off!

3' 'Come on you Irons' rings around the stadium as the two teams feel each other out. The game's first free kick goes to Norwich, some 35 yards from goal.

4' Krul hoofs one clear which means both 'keepers have had a touch of the ball now. Norwich, in their all-grey away kit look lively and win another free kick.

6' The visitors have definitely started more brightly, but neither side have created a goalscoring opportunity yet. In fact, it's been a rather dull opening.

8' Elsewhere there's been goals in the opening two minutes - for Man City and Watford. Here we're still awaiting our first attack of note.

10' West Ham unable to get out of first gear so far. Norwich have barely made second.

12' Haller does well to win the ball. Anderson does well and the ball finds Yarmolenko who hits the deck but it's a pretty terrible dive.

13' West Ham have the first corner of the game but it's overhit by Lanzini.

14' Better signs from West Ham. Lanzini and Anderson beginning to get involved. United win a free kick 45 yards from City's goal.

15' Yarmolenko and Lanzini make a hash of the free kick and Norwich regain possession. We're still waiting for a shot from either team.

16' Close! Haller feeds Yarmolenko who finds an advancing Anderson. His shot is goalbound but the Brazilian is denied by a superb sliding tackle.

18' Anderson is felled by Leitner. His name should be in the book for what used to be called a "professional foul".

18' Yarmolenko's down in the box again. Like before, it's never a penalty, Wasteful.

20' Zimmermann is on the floor after a heavy challenge from Haller. He should really be in the book too - it was a little late. Referee Tierney evening things up there.

23' 'Evil Stephen Hendry' not happy about that Haller challenge. But Zimmermann's back on his feet.

23' GOAL!! Haller opens his account at the LOS!!

25' Anderson finds Masuaku who does fantastically well to leave his marker for dust. The low cross into the corridor of uncertainly and Haller tucks it away. A lovely goal.

27' I think the man Masuaku left standing was Zimmermann, who is still feeling that injury... Meanwhile Norwich have their first shot of the day from Cantwell but it's well over the bar.

28' Fredericks wins a corner for the Hammers. Lanzini strolls over nonchalantly to take. It's a better delivery but well defended.

31' Goodness gracious. How did he miss that? Aarons does well, lifts a cross to the back post but Cantwell is there before the ball and can only nod it over the bar. Danger signs.

32' Lanzini picks Trybull's pocket. West Ham work it into the box and Yarmolenko is down in the box for a third time. And for a third time, there's no question of it being a penalty. Meanwhile Norwich have a shot on target but it's easy for Fabianski.

34' A magnificent burst of speed from Anderson as he breaks into the box but he can't quite find his man. On the other side, Diop is briefly a winger but his cross is headed clear.

36' Zimmermann is down and asking to be replaced. It's about ten minutes too late for Norwich. On comes Amadou in his place.

37' Amadou, who is usually employed in midfield now has to mark Anderson for the rest of the game. I know what I'd be saying at half time were I Manuel Pellegrini.

38' Aarons drives a cross towards the near post but there's no grey shirt in sight. Anderson guilty of switching off briefly there.

40' It's all gone a little quiet again as we approach half time. West Ham won't mind that, being as they are a goal ahead.

42' Yarmolenko down again, clutching his ankle. He may well have spent as much time on the deck in this first half as on his feet.

44' Unlucky. Anderson intercepts in a dangerous position but West Ham can't quite take advantage of the opportunity.

45' This may be tempting fate, but prior to this I'm yet to mention Teemu Pukki's name once.

45+1' Three minutes (minimum) added on.

45+2' A bit of magic from Anderson as some in the crowd cry "nuts"! He's been outstanding so far.

45+3' Cap'n Noble buys a free kick. Yarmo and Trybull have a bit of handbags. The half time interval is almost upon us.

48:14 Norwich started the brighter but West Ham fully deserve their half time lead. Anderson mesmerising, Haller on target with his third goal of the campaign.

Second Half

46' Here we go again. Masuaki rounds hi man before winning a free kick.

48' No changes at the break. Anderson attacks and is surrounded by three players in grey.

48' That's a nasty one by Amadou, who goes through the back of Haller. Still no yellow card. Perhaps Tierney's left them at home.

50' Lewis beats Yarmolenko far too easily. Fortunately the Norwich man's cross is cleared.

51' West Ham break down the left. Masuaku's trickery is so good he not only beats his opponent but himself too.

52' Shame. Lovely move by Lanzini who wrong-foots his opponent but he's on a different wavelength to Haller who fails to spot the opportunity.

54' Cantwell hits the bar but he's offside. The move started with Pukki, who sounds like an '80s arcade machine, but West Ham escape.

55' It's that man Anderson again as he finds Haller but the shot is well blocked. West Ham win a corner though as Fredericks' attempted cross is similarly blocked.

56' GOAL!! It's nearly two as Yarmolenko hits the post. Would you believe it - thirty seconds later he has the ball in the net. Gooooooal!

56' Norwich the architects of their own demise. They concede possession in their own third; Yarmo's mazy run ends up with Noble who is tackled but the ball falls to the Ukranian, who volleys home to double West Ham's advantage.

59' Anderson fancies his chances now. He drives into the box and attempts to nutmeg his way further, but the defender is wise to it - this time.

60' Norwich have their first corner. It comes via a superb tackle by Diop.

62' Wonders will never cease. Tierney books Aarons for tripping Anderson, as the Brazilian leaves him for dust.

65' Ryan Fredericks is a fantastic athlete but not the greatest crosser of a football. I can't recall a single delivery finding a team mate yet this season.

67' Fredericks gives the ball away in a dangerous position and Pukki picks it up, bull his shot is weak and easy for Fabianski (who's probably grateful for having something to do).

68' Fredericks delivers from the right and his cross is deflected for a corner. It nearly went in, with Krul wrong-footed. The resulting corner finds Diop who heads goalward, but it's headed off the line. Close...

70' A good reception for Yarmolenko as he's replaced by Snodgrass.

74' Snodgrass channelling John Moncur as he's booked for virtually his first tackle since entering the fray.

76' Lewis does exceptionally well for Norwich to get a cross in and it's ahead of Fabianski, but the danger is averted.

77' There's a Norwich sub. I'm afraid I don't know who. If you want professional commentary, go visit the BBC.

78' McLean. It's McLean on for the Canaries.

79' Oooh! Masuaku centres and the header is from Lanzini - I repeat, a header from Lanzini - but it's a brilliant save from Krul to deny the diminutive Argentinian.

81' Anderson is tearing Norwich a new one. He sidefoots from 20 yards and Krul does fantastically well to deny him with a save low to his left.

81' Anderson tries his luck from 25 yards. It sails into the stand behind the goal. Terrible footballer...

82' Diop and Lanzini play their own little game within a game close to West Ham's corner stick. Between them, they win a throw in.

83' Anderson, the man with magic boots delivers a superb ball behind the defence for Haller. He moves into the box and goes to ground, but no penalty says Tierney.

83' We've witnessed a masterclass from Anderson today. He puts in Snodgrass who's shot is well saved. We see a replay of the Haller incident and I have to say it looks like a penalty.

86' The mighty Sanchez replaces Noble. Anderson - who else? - finds Lanzini with a brilliant reverse pass. Then Diop has a header saves well by Krul. We've been treated to some great stuff from the Hammers in this second half.

86' I should've written "whose", not "who's". Don't you hate it when that happens?

88' Fornals is on for Anderson. He's been absolutely brilliant today. (Anderson that is - I haven't been watching the Spaniard on the bench that closely.)

89' Now Declan Rice fancies his chances. He tries his luck from 22/23 yards and the shot, low and crisp, whistles past the post with Krul a spectator.

90' Pukki finally registers an effort at goal - a header, but it's easy for Fabianski. The striker has been superbly marshalled by Messrs Ogbonna and Diop today. We have three added minutes to go.

90+2' Drmic almost pulls one back for Norwich - Lewis, who's had a decent game curls one in but the shot - if that's what you can call it - clips the post and goes behind.

Full Time: West Ham Utd 2-0 Norwich City

93:06 And that's that! A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon if you're a West Ham fan. A first home win for the campaign and a first Premier League clean sheet.

93:06 Whisper it quietly, but bar the opening day abomination West Ham have started the season pretty well. We go to Villa Park next where another newly-promoted team await.
