Michail Antonio says his recovery has already begun - just 24 hours after undergoing an operation to repair a torn hamstring.

West Ham's swashbuckling forward pulled up in agony just seven minutes into the Carabao Cup tie at Newport County last week since when he was told surgery would be required in order to repair the extensive injury.

But rather than feeling sorry for himself, Antonio - insisted that the injury "is nothing", whilst telling Hammers fans that he'll be "back bigger, better, faster and stronger."

"I just want to thank everyone for my 'get well soon' wishes, "he said, speaking to supporters via social media. "I had an operation yesterday that will keep me out for the next few months.

"I also want to wish the boys good luck for the next few months until I can get back and help push us to where we are going to try and finish for the season.

"I'm now on the road to recovery and I'm going to do everything I can to get myself back fitter and stronger than I ever was."
