Whilst West Ham's fans have always enjoyed a positive outlook, it's fair to say that the same ambitions have rarely been shared by the club itself.

Yet according to goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who starred in today's 2-0 win against Manchester United at the LOS, that is all set to change under the current regime.

With Manuel Pellegrini having installed a new-found belief amongst his squad, hopes are high that West ham can finally crack the top six this season - a target the popular Pole believes is attainable with the right kind of attitude.

"We are very ambitious as a team and want to play for something more than just being a mid-table team," he told West Ham's website following today's victory that takes West Ham up to fifth in the table.

"Step by step, you can clearly see that emerging in our performances. It was a massive win for us and our ambition is to get in and around the big teams.

"Hopefully that win will keep up our belief that we are able to do it - that we are able to join those bigger teams in the table if we just continue to work hard."

And Fabianski, who only had one save of note to make during the match also hailed yet another clean sheet - West Ham's fourth in succession following blanks recorded against Newport, Norwich and Aston Villa - and the limited number of chances afforded to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

"I don't think Manchester United created any chances in the first half against us," he added. "So we were confident at half-time that we were playing well, we were controlling the game, and just wanted to push on even more.

"Manchester United have such good quality going forwards. They have some skilful players, so you always have to be aware because they can surprise you - we had to be prepared for that.

"I'm happy with the clean sheet, and hopefully the defensive work that we do every day will just continue to pay off - or maybe get even better perhaps!"
