West Ham are reported to have sent scouts to watch Congolese defender Christian Luyindama.

The 6'3" Congolese international, who currently features for Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray regularly features in central defence despite having begun his career as a striker.

And according to local media outlet Fanatik, he has been watched by Hammers scouts in Gala's recent Champions League fixtures against Bruges and Paris St Germain ahead of the January transfer window.

Luyindama, 25, signed for Gala for £4.5million in January - initially on loan from Belgian outfit Standard Liege - before making the move a permanent one during the summer.

West Ham are monitoring his situation due to the ongoing issue relating to Winston Reid, whose last competitive appearance came back in March 2018.

Reid, who was expected to make his comeback last month is under contract until 2023 although doubts have been cast as to whether he wil be able to play at the highest level again due to his lengthy lay-off.

* West Ham are also reported to be monitoring Algerian international Aissa Mandi.

Currently representing Real Betis, from whom the Hammers signed goalkeeper Adrian in 2013, the 27-year-old right back has more than 50 international caps to his name.

Out of contract in 20 months time, Mandi's current contract includes a minimum fee release clause of €30million but it has been reported by Spanish sources that he is unlikely to sign a new deal with the La Liga side.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is also said to have been keeping a close eye on developments, although is reported to be unwilling to meet Betis' minimum release clause.

* Albeit unlikely as a first team contender, West Ham are one of several clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Woking defender Oliver Creed.

At just 16 the teenager has established himself in the non-league outfit's first team but is yet to sign his first full time contract - which had led to a string of professional clubs to send scouts Woking's way.
