A video apparently mocking new Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has been removed from West Ham United's social media feed.

Earlier this afternoon West Ham's media department published the video - along with the phrase "see you Saturday, Jose" - highlighting West Ham's wins over Mourinho's Manchester United and Chelsea teams.

The tweet was removed shortly after publishing

However following much criticism from fans and commentators alike, the video - published at 1:39pm on Wednesday afternoon - was pulled from the club's twitter and Facebook feeds less than two hours later.

Channel Four producer and long term Hammers fan Kiran Moodley was one of the first to question the wisdom of the post. "We haven't won since September and have been utter crap," he tweeted in response.

Meanwhile the Daily Mirror's Head of Digital Sport Matty Lawless also indicated that the decision to publish the tweet was potentially short-sighted: "Let's hope this doesn't spectacularly backfire on Saturday," he added.

Prior to being deleted the tweet has received 412 replies, many of which criticised the decision to publish, more than 550 retweets and in excess of 1,900 likes.

Mourinho was named as Tottenham's new manager on Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after former incumbent Mauricio Pochettino was fired. The two teams meet at the London Olympic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
