The man considered one of the favourites to potentially replace Manuel Pellegrini as manager of West Ham will be in the stadium when United tackle Arsenal on Monday evening.

Rafa Benitez has long been linked with the managerial position at West Ham, going back to before Slaven Bilic was installed as the successor to Sam Allardyce.

And the 59-year-old Spaniard will be present when Pellegrini's side take on managerless Arsenal in tonight's game, which is being broadcast live on TV as guest of the Monday Night Football show.

Benitez, who has previously enjoyed spells with Liverpool and Newcastle United in the Premier League is currently in charge at Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang.

However he is back in Europe briefly for media work and will join Jamie Carragher and presenter David Jones in the studio to share his thoughts on the progress of both clubs.

Despite being a favourite of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan the chances of Benitez replacing Pellegrini at West Ham are thought to be slim given his contractual sitation with Yifang, who sit ninth in the CSL.

The Spanish coach is reported to earn around £12million per year in China, where he is under contract until the end of 2021.

Pellegrini, who is contracted to West Ham until the end of the 2020/21 campaign is at risk of losing his job following the club's poor start to the 2019/20 season which has left United just one point above the relegation zone with 15 matches played.
