KUMB are saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong West Ham United supporter Fred Wickert.

Fred, who was 87, was a home and away season ticket holder and regularly travelled from his home along with a close friend to take in West Ham's fixtures around the country.

KUMB member NorthernIron, who got to know Fred in recent years led the tributes to a man he was honoured to call a friend. "Fred sadly passed away at his home in Lincolnshire last weekend," he told KUMB.

"He was a home and away season ticket holder, and mostly travelled to games with his pal Mick - who himself is in his 70s - who drove them.

"Fred would always be sat in the front row at away games with his Bovril, and always had time for a chat. I had the pleasure of knowing him for the last two years.

"I remember in particular chatting with him at the Etihad at the midweek game last season. He was driving home to Lincolnshire on his own straight after.

"The family are trying to get the club to make an appropriate gesture at the Everton game.

He would have been going to this Friday's game at Sheffield. As our own tribute we've been asked to bring West Ham memorabilia to put on his seat in Block BL2, row C, seat 81.

"RIP Fred."

Condolences go to Fred's family and friends from everyone at KUMB.
