Arthur Masuaku has praised 'the David Moyes' effect for having had a positive effect on the squad since he arrived at West Ham.

The Scottish boss is still in the first month of his second spell at the club following his recent replacement of Manuel Pellegrini.

Yet that hasn't prevented a rejuvenated Masuaku from speaking positively about the influence the 56-year-old has had.

All in the head: Masuaku says 'the Moyes effect' is being felt

"He's changed things a little tactically, but not too much," Masuaku told Premier League Productions. "It’s more the mood and confidence that have changed since he came.

"He arrived and said: 'If you don’t work, you’re not going to play' - and I think everything is very clear now.

"We saw against Bournemouth the way everybody played; everybody was at it and pressing. That’s what he wants and what the fans want. We won that game and the game against Gillingham, so that’s good.

"For most of us it’s all about confidence," he continued. "In football, when you don’t have confidence you are not the same player, and that’s what he tries to give you - so you can enjoy it on the pitch.

"He wants us to be hard to beat and not to concede easy goals. When everybody is at it, we are a good team."

And Masuaku believes that West Ham will no longer be flirting with relegation if they can continue to perform as they have in their last two outings.

"We are not safe but if we keep playing like we have been, there is no way we are going to go down.

"With the squad we have got we need to aim for big targets. If we win on Friday, that would be massive. We just need to take it one game at a time and be hard to beat."
