Sources in France say West Ham have expressed an interest in signing Nantes defensive midfielder Abdoulaye Toure.

The 25-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2022 but has thus far rejected the club's offer of a new deal.

And that has alerted West Ham who are reported by France Football to have registered their "concrete interest" in the 6'2" midfield enforcer.

Likened to former Hammer Cheik Kouyate, who possesses a similar lean build, Toure has spent the last six years with Nante having joined from regional side Vendee Poire-sur-Vie Football.

Whilst he is yet to be capped by Didier Deschamps' full French national team he represented the country as a youth at all levels from Under 16 to Under 20.

The player is valued around the EUR15million mark, although West Ham are said to have expressed a wish to take the player on loan intially.

It is also suggested that the Hammers have been taking a close look at Steven N'Zonzi and Marseille's Morgan Sanson, although the latter is said to be reticent to move to the Premier League despite being available for sale.
