"The club have released medical tests and contract discussions with West Ham United FC," wrote chairman Jaroslav Tvrd?k via his personal twitter page.

"If the two parties reach an agreement and a full contract is to follow, it would be a record transfer for a player in the Czech League. And Tomas would deserve it!"

Soucek, who had made 20 appearances for the Czech Republic since making his full international debut in 2016 has spent his entire career in Prague, although he has previously spent spells on loan at Viktoria Zizkov (2015) and Slovan Liberec (2017).

The 6'4" imposing midfielder, who has scored an impressive 31 goal in 111 club appearances was named as the Czech First League Player of the Year at the end of the 2018/19 season and promptly signed an extended deal with Prague upon being given the award.

Yet less than a year into his new five-year contract, Soucek is set to become West Ham's second signing of the transfer window following the recent return of Darren Randolph. The deal, a loan initially will become permanent in the summer should West Ham remain in the Premier League.
