The opposition view: Chelsea

It's been a while, hasn't it? Back today following a long hiatus we welcome the return of an old chum, the OV, as we rejoice in the filth and the fury from our friends at Stamford Bridge following last night's particularly satisfying 3-2 win at the LOS...

"This is up there with most painful defeat in quite a while. To concede three (four really) and your 'keeper generally has a quiet evening is just shambolic. You could see Lamps was raging and rightly so. Rudiger has massively gone down in my estimations tonight. He was poor, but I can’t accept his defending for that third goal. You have to know Yarmelenko is very left sided. If you stand him up on his right in that scenario, then you are hugely increasing the percentages in your favour of that attack breaking down. I just can’t accept what Rudiger done there and I feel let down by lack of professionalism by him for that goal. Horrible night. Horrible defensive performance and one of the most avoidable defeats possible."

"West Ham, two corners, two goals, one luckily disallowed. 71 per cent posession for Chelsea. We were only able to score from the penalty spot and direct free kick by Willian's inspiration.Only one team has lost both league games against West Ham. We have the same goals conceded as Brighton. Frankie, you are a problem. Repeating the same mistakes every day is something that cannot be admitted. The team does not know how to defend. Why not hire an excellent defensive assistant coach? It is unbelievable the amount of games and points we've lost due to completely stupid mistakes and with a clear responsibility of the coach. I like you, but if you are not able to learn from mistakes, self-criticize and evolve, please leave."

"Had a shower, beverage and still can't shake the utter disgust and anger at thay performance. Wish the league was called as it was because watching us throw away a CL spot to piss teams like that tonight is just torture."
- Chelsbear

"The turning point of the game was when Rudiger got that panic attack and kicked the ball for the corner with 30 seconds to go. He had time and space to kick it to the nearest parking lot. Moyes didn’t even have to say anything at half time. They already knew they would score more. Rudiger and Christensen were terrified every time Antonio got the ball near them. The bottom line is: this defence is beyond repair. They won’t get consistently better. If Lampard persists with the same defense next season it may do unrepairable morale damage to the team. It is now obvious that MU will get the third place. Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves would fight for the fourth till the last day. This last minute conceded goal and lost point might prove to be crucial."

"I tried to calm down but i am still furious. The reality is we have a group of spineless players with no leaders in this group, and it will stay like that for years. how i miss JT! We are light years away from the top three unless we completely change our defence and it is my personal opinion that Frank lacks tactical knowledge and experience to bring us to the top. Unfortunate start for the new kit as well losing to this lot, embarrassing all around."
- BadBlue

"Not sure why there is so much shock and horror at tonight's result. Ignore where West Ham are in the league and where we are. They always raise their game against us massively and we have been ridiculously fortunate to get six points out of the last two games before tonight . We could quite easily be sitting here after three back to back defeats. We have a long list of first team players who aren't really title-challenging quality and a slightly shorter list who aren't really CL qualification players. There is a sh*t load of work to do with this squad and we need to be realistic about expectations."
- loz

"Usually after a bad result has particularly annoyed me I eventually look at it in a bit more context and feel a bit better on refection. Not today. If anything, it's got me even more wound up. The main reason being it was totally avoidable. Frank's a young manager so I will give him the time to fix this shit especially as I have seen serious promise with him (if this was an experienced manager pulling this I'd be going full Claude) but if these tactics and selections are the "new normal" then *yikes*."

"With 71 per cent possession there is no way we should be conceding three goals, that is carelessness. The first goal conceded was ludicrous. Go in at half time one up and this game was won. Yet again just after the break we failed to start, gave away careless possession and we're a goal down due to a lack of awareness at the back. The third goal was borderline kamikaze, it could be argued that Rudiger would have been better letting Yarmolenko have a run at goal rather than showing him onto his stronger left foot with the perfect angle. Antonio has shown our centre forwards how to make a nuisance of yourself and dominate the centre backs by shear hard graft. All these goals were preventable and should have been. Top four will be hard now with the remaining fixtures, we still have the two point advantage but we could be now praying for City's demise. One thing for definite is we have to cut out though is the careless mistakes that are costing us points."
- charierre

"VAR has cost us, more than it has helped us. Antonio's upper half was offside, but did that really change anything? In the same way Giroud scored with his head against [Man] United, but his toe was offside. Or Mount's foot was offisde about ten passes before we scored against Liverpool. VAR is a shambles, and I never wanted it!"
- paulw66

"Both he [Lampard] and Jody need to have a look in the mirror and figure out what the f**k is going on with us from set plays. It’s absolutely disgraceful how bad we are at defending set plays, it’s not just now and again. It’s literally every ball in to the box looks like it’s going to be a goal. It’s seriously holding us back. We are probably one of if not the worst team I’ve ever seen defending set pieces. You see better defending at the park on a Sunday morning. They’re young and learning but this needs to be sorted for next season. It’s easy to target us, you just play for set pieces and you’re guaranteed chances. 0/6 against West Ham. Frank needs to have a serious look at himself. That’s not f**king good enough. Wasted the performance and result against City. Really hope West Ham go down. I f**king hate them as a club."
- EdinburghBlue

"Deserved. Antonio has been utterly FANTASTIC."
- Blue_In_Every_Way

"Disgraceful result. West Ham are garbage. Every time they have gone behind they have lost this season I read. Until today that is. You could see in that first half we were not at it at all. Really shocking concentration first from Tammy to concede a corner which VAR let us off for. Shocking performance, shocking attitude and concentration against a really poor opponent. Thought job was done cause we beat City probably. Not good enough."
- axman2526

"We couldn't keep possession and in the end lost it and got punished for it. Our strikers barely got to feel the ball today while Antonio looked like a tank that could do whatever he wanted. Moyes was at the Leicester game, he scouted us and won this game tactically against Lampard. We could have lost this game with a little less luck with a much worse scoreline."
- Gol15

"All in all we were pretty much the better side - more so than against Villa or Leicester. And last time WHU beat us twice in a season they got relegated - a good omen. And we nicked Joe Cole and GJ cheap afterwards. For 85 mins (all but start of H2) we were the stronger side. The offside VAR was blatant - the striker kicked the ball into the guy on the floor and then put in the rebound. VAR never showed the shot or Kepa because they had already decided that, they were only considering how far offside he was (plenty). Their 2nd should also have not been given - Antonio blatantly dives when challenged by Rudiger and the ref just plays on - he should stop play and book him. VAR should also call the dive and rule the goal out."
- Droy was my hero

"Shocked to see people complaining that we tried to win yesterday instead of settling for a draw. I can guarantee if we tried to hold on to one point, Lampard would be slated for cowardice. Game management had nothing to do with our appalling performance last night."
- Arkie

"F**k off Chelsea you absolute shower of piss, we deserve it. From being able to be in 3rd with daylight to scraping onto 4th, 0 points out of six from these lot??? Conceding three goals, near enough four to West Ham..."
- SFL82

"Being beaten by a house of cards team playing in a council's recreation ground is hard to swallow. Hopefully we will ride the storm and get a CL place."
- RobertoftheGiz

"That’s a really irritating result. I can’t shake it off. "
- Itsintheblood89

"I’m not sure what’s worse - winning the game to give the dippers the title or giving this lot six points to stay up. Plainly not good enough. Whoever is coaching these defenders needs sacking! All four plus the goalkeeper are shockingly bad."
- Andy2461

"We've managed to make Antonio look one of the best forwards in the world tonight. Spammers have become our bogey team. SIGH..."
- Nibs

"We should do everything we can to sign Declan Rice this summer. He's dominated us twice this season and he's the type of leader we sorely lack in this team. As a CDM i'd have him over Kante any day of the week. He's also a natural CB so he could be the answer to some of our defensive woes."
- Sindre

"Well done lads, You've made David Moyes look like a tactical genius."
- Luca Vialli
