Fans to return from October?

The Government has announced that spectators could be allowed back inside sport stadiums from October - paving the way for the return of crowds to Premier League football.

Although the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign - which is likely to begin sometime in September - is set to be played behind closed doors, some fans could return within a few weeks of the new season commencing.


Prime Minster Johnson has mooted an October return for some, if not all, fans


Addressing the nation via a public statement on Friday morning, Prime Minster Boris Johnson confirmed the Government's plans - which include the involvement of a pilot scheme to ascertain their viability.

"From October we intend to bring back audiences in stadiums," he said. "We will pilot larger gatherings in venues like sports stadiums with a view to a wider reopening in the autumn.

"These changes must be done In a Covid-secure way, subject to the successful outcome of pilots."

It has become the norm that West Ham United have opened season ticket sales from either April or May in recent years, however the club have been unable to reveal prices for the 2020/21 season due to the current uncertainty.
