Moyes calls for consistency

David Moyes has called upon his squad to produce a similarly-high level of performance against a struggling Fulham team as they have in recent weeks.

West Ham have surprised many commentators - both with and without claret and blue sympathies - during their performances against the likes of Leicester, Tottenham and Manchester City in recent weeks.

However Moyes knows those efforts will count for little if his team fail to set the same high standards against Scott Parker's side in Stratford this weekend. "We try to be the same all the time," he said during Friday's press conference.

"We're trying to get consistency, whether that's against teams at the top or those who you'd consider to be nearer the bottom. The motivation is the same every week.

"If we can continue to keep brushing up on the defensive side of things then we'll do okay."

"If you've been to Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Leicester away from home in the first seven you'd say that's tough for any club. So I"m pleased with the way we've started. I still wanted more points, but the level of performance has been good."

Meanwhile one player Moyes will be hoping can produce a solid performance is Sebastien Haller, the club's record signing who has regained his place in the starting XI due to an injury to the in-form Michail Antonio.

The French-born forward received his first ever international call-up for the Ivory Coast on Thursday, for whom he qualifies via his parents. And Moyes hopes that will be the inspiration for a more effective performance from the £45million man.

"I am pleased for Seb," Moyes replied when asked about the surprise call-up. "He has got a really good scoring record and I am sure that's why Ivory Coast have chosen him.

"He can make an impact in the Premier League. I think it takes time to settle in the Premier League and people expect a lot from the start.

"Sometime it takes time but it's a big chance for him to show what he can do. At West Ham we value him so highly, he has a great reputation throughout Europe, so let's hope he can bring that to West Ham."
