Haller hints at huge potential

West Ham United match winner Sebastien Haller believes West Ham are unaware of how good they can potentially be.

David Moyes' side moved up to eighth in the Premier League with a 1-0 win at bottom club Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon courtesy of Haller's 56th minute strike.

And the striker - whose winning goal was the first of his pro career scored from outside of the penalty box - hinted that there could be much more to come from the Hammers, if they are able to fulfil their potential.

"It feels great for me," said Haller when asked to describe his goal - his first on the road this season. "I feel so happy for the team as the three points is just what we needed.

"To score from outside the box is special. My game is not just about scoring goals, but having come back from the national team I wanted to bring the confidence back to West Ham. Hopefully I can show it in the next few games.

"We have a good attitude, and I don't know exactly what we can achieve. I feel we're not fully aware of our potential. I don't want to set any goals, but just prepare game by game and see where it takes us."

Haller's goal was his sixth of the season so far but only the second in the Premier League, with the forward having played second fiddle to the currently-injured Michail Antonio for much of the campaign so far.

However he produced his best performance of the 2020/21 campaign at Bramall Lane this afternoon, giving manager Moyes plenty of food for thought ahead of next week's match with Aston Villa, a game for which Antonio is expected to be fit.
