David Moyes admitted that his team were distinctly second best in today's Premir League defeat against Liverpool.

The Hammers boss watches his team go down 3-1 at home to the reigning Champions thanks to three second half goals from Mo Salah (2) and Dutch international Georginio Wijnaldum. And he admitted that his team deserved nothing from the game, following an unusually impotent performance.

I thought we competed as well as we could but I don't think we played as well as we could," he said. "We tried to compete but they were just too strong for us today. hey They played much better than us today so we've got no complaints."

Meanwhile the boss admitted he was surprised by West Ham's inability to make inroads into a makeshift Liverpool defence and general lack of composure when in possession.

"That we didn't get the ball down and play was probably one of my biggest disappointments," he added. "We had some key players who we needed to do that better in the moments when we had possession and they didn't.

"I'd put that down chiefly to Liverpool's pressing - they were very good at going after us at every opportunity. But I'd like to think we wouwld've showed a bit of composure and show what we can do - and we didn't."
