Lukasz Fabianski has ended speculation over his immediate future by signing a one-year extension to his current contract.

The Polish international, who celebrates his 36th birthday next month was out of contract with West Ham at the end of the current season.

However he will remain a Hammer for another 12 months, at least, after signing the extension to the three-year deal he agreed when joining the club from Swansea City for £7.2million in 2018.

“I’m really happy about it,” Fabianski told West Ham's website. “I’m just happy that it has been sorted.

"At the same time I would like to say I’m very thankful for the belief the club has placed in me and I want to just continue to do well for the team, the club and for the fans. I’m really pleased and looking to continuing to work hard and put in good performances."

Although a number of potential replacements have been mooted in recent months, Fabianski says he had no intention of moving elsewhere unless pushed. "It has been a really good move for me and since I came here, I’ve felt very settled", he added.

"The transition for me was very easy and I really enjoy playing for this football club, so I am happy I can stay a bit longer and continue to do my best on and off the pitch.”

With 90 appearances under his belt since 2018 - 88 in the Premier League and two in the FA Cup - Fabianski has became a firm favourite with the supporters many of whom have already welcomed the news.
