A French reporter claims West Ham have seen a fresh bid for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd rejected.

Aguerd has frequently been linked with a move to England during the current transfer window, with West Ham said to have contacted the Ligue 1 club previously regarding the Moroccan international.

And according to local reporter Ignazio Genuardi, the former editor of French website Foot365, West Ham have made an offer close to €20million for the 25-year-old - which has been rejected by Rennes, who want to keep the player.

While that figure might seem unlikely given that West Ham have been trying to close a deal for Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic for around £14million, rumours persist that David Moyes is seeking to bring in TWO new defenders before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Kurt Zouma remains tentatively linked although there is no news of a fresh bid being made, after Chelsea' rejected West Ham's earlier approach for the 26-year-old French international.

The 6ft 2in Aguerd, who began his career with FUS Rabat moved to France in 2018 to join Dijon. Following two seasons with Les hiboux he moved to current club Rennes, for whom he featured on 35 occasions last season while scoring three goals.
