Super seven in weekend action

West Ham United had a total of seven Academy players involved for their respective countries over the weekend.

Under 23 goalkeeper Krisztian Heygi was in action for Hungary Under 21s, as they lost 2-1 to their counterparts from Israel.

Conor Coventry was on the scoresheet


Meanwhile Jamal Baptiste made his debut for England at Under 19 level as they saw off Italy at St George’s Park.

Elsewhere Conor Coventry marked his 17th appearance for the Republic of Ireland Under 21s with a goal, as they began their 2023 UEFA Under 21 Championship qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Midfielder Sonny Perkins played the full 90 minutes, and goalkeeper Jacob Knightbridge the second half, of England Under 18’s 1-1 draw against Wales on Friday afternoon.

And Michael Forbes played the whole of Northern Ireland’s Under 19 1-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands last Wednesday.

Finally, Oliver Scarles helped England Under 17s to reach the final of the Syrenka Cup, a friendly tournament held in Poland, with a 2-0 win over Romania - which was followed by a 2-1 victory against Portugal.

England, managed by Tom Curtis, will now face the Netherlands in the final on Tuesday evening.
