The opposition view: Brentford

Three Premier League games in a row that've been decided by a last-gasp winner - sadly we were on the wrong end of it again. Few would've seen this coming, but Bees fans certainly enjoyed the moment as the latest edition of the OV doth attest...

"What a day! Unbelievable stuff! Thought it was the classic game of two halves. We came out so strongly and could well have been 2 or 3 up at HT but looked very comfortable. Second half we just didn't turn up. We looked a shadow of our normal selves all over the pitch. The West Ham fans were getting more and more frustrated with our 'sh*thousing' and tbh so was I as it seemed to be our first thought rather than to try and play as we know we can. We actually looked like we'd survived the onslaught when they finally scored. When they got their equaliser I thought we'd def lose it, but credit to Frank, he doesn't mess about. And what a move that was! West Ham fans were already leaving when Wissa showed great composure to hit a half volley hard into the net and send everyone mental. We're in a WAY better position at this point than I ever dreamed we could be. So proud of the whole club."

"Fantastic victory that against a very good West Ham team with a raucous crowd behind them. And after losing three first teamers to injury. This is some team we have."
- jbee

"I thought we were battered in the second half but strangely confident that we would hang on and get a chance to score a second and win. What universe am I in?"
- OrpingtonBee

"I am sure MotD and others will talk about West Ham being robbed second half but I look at a gutsy, Brentford-esque defensive performance we have become accustomed to and I thought we had done enough to deserve a point. Then you give away a set piece at your peril and bosh, 2.1. Unbelievable. I am sure sh*thousery won the day, WHU were poor etc etc."
- mhead bee

"Incredible scenes! Fantastic performance by us in the first half, West Ham showed why they were a top six side last season in the second half, but we dug in and WOW, what a time to score. We are Premier League!"
- Stofer

"I think we easily matched them first 25 minutes or so, before the injury to Baptiste. Add Ajer and Janelt to that team and I reckon we are close to being on a par at least. And, as for tactics, give me TF and his staff over Moyes any day of the week."
- IslandBee

"That's how to win a football match. 94th minute and everyone in the West Ham box."
- Manimanc

"Unsurprisingly we struggled at times in this one after a bright start and on the balance of chances created could easily have lost the game. But we never 'crumbled' under pressure. That was what was most impressive. No one gave up on any duels or second balls even when a West Ham goal felt inevitable. Even after finally conceding we could have lost our heads and buckled and ended up losing the game. But we didn’t, we made two positive subs and were brave (without losing our defensive composure) and we got the chance from the set piece to win it. Under no illusions that we were (or are) necessarily a better side than West Ham physically, technically, tactically. But we are showing a mental strength that few other sides can match."

"They used to say when Man Utd were clearly second best, but managed to snatch results in the last minute, that it was the signature of Champions. Why not?"

"Went as a guest and was in one of their lounges and posh seats. Ground really is not suitable for football. Even with the good view I had (no binoculars required) there was still a mass of tarpaulin in front of us before their lower tier. West Ham fans spent most of the game moaning about the ref and our tactics and a bit less so on why Moyes did not use his subs more effectively. They used the Europa League excuse in the bar afterwards but had to admit they made seven changes or so. Did have two more senior Bees fans in the block next to us sing Bus Stop in Hounslow and celebrate the winner (not the wisest move even in hospitality) only for them to nearly have their lights punched out by East End's finest, fortunately some of the more level-headed of their neighbours got them out sharpish."

"Very proud of our boys today. Great football first half and battled the second half to give us that chance to nick it. Did we deserve it? Possibly not, but it makes up for Brighton. Amazing stadium, great architecture etc. but a football ground? Not for me - miles from the pitch all around and those dead spaces below the top tiers just make it worse. Glad we went the way we did with a stadium designed for us and with football in mind. What have West Ham become?"
- Twickbee

"Away days are about new experiences and the London Stadium was certainly an experience. What did it for me was walking back to the station and noticed Westfield shoppers all lined up at the windows taking videos of the football fans walking back. I was in the upper end myself although my view wasn't as bad as I'd expected. There was a West Ham protest I could hear arriving at the stadium, from what I heard part of their problem is the new stadium. I enjoyed the unique experience but I wouldn't want the stadium to be our home, it clearly isn't built for football."
- Shamrock_Bee

"I would rather the old MK hockey stadium over that soulless bowl. No character around the ground. Can see why their fans hate it and protest against the owners at most home games."
- Isleworth_Bee

"On the stadium can I just say I felt so unsafe in it. The front rows are the retractable seating and built on wood structures. So when they start thumping it the floor was really moving and I really thought it would be collapse. And I thought I was going to get blinded by the sun and then soaked just after half time. The catering outlets are excellent - but £5.95 for a pint! I thought the walk to the station was well marshelled but it took so long."
- Leonardo

"The London Stadium has got to be the worst in the country. Was in the upper tier and needed a telescope to what was going on at the other end. Clearly never designed for football with those flat platforms between the upper and lower tiers apparently covering the running track. Not a good idea to schedule games that time on a Sunday as the end of the game coincided with Westfield shoppers ending their spending sprees and heading to Stratford station at the same time. As for the match brilliant, thoroughly deserved and would have been disappointed with a draw."
- TW1Bee

"Great win and performance albeit a bit against it for the majority of the second half. Ogbonna did very well against Toney and that squashed most of our threat in the second half as well as inviting pressure as West Ham continually won the ball back. I can’t make my mind up about the stadium, I liked the outside facilities and space but the atmosphere inside was weird. Miles away from the pitch and I was at the front of the upper section so can’t imagine what it was like for those at the back. Handbags with the home fans at the end was entertaining but I was amazed at how many people left at 1-1, they must have known we were going to score!"
- CrispBiscuit

"Standing up after the winning goal, hugging and slapping my (West Ham supporting) mates on the back, and leaving immediately without being spotted as being in the wrong end. Easier to deal with than I imagined it would be (was hoping for a boring 0-0 tbh). May have been different if I was anywhere near the Bees supporters but I was by the opposite corner flag. Got home in 20 minutes as well."
- keith c

"Not a football stadium, its a viewing arena. Soulless inside and out. Sh*t and I'm not surprised some West Ham fans don't bother going."
- Brentford_till_die

"What a superb Sunday. Thought it was another master class in tactics from TF. We completely nullified their threat in the first half whilst dominating the play and Rice just kept playing it long and our centre half dealt with everything. In Moyes' post match interview he mentioned they created many clear cut chances, well apart from the goal I can only think of that header. West Ham were dominant second half but it was a battling performance defensive wise and after they scored I would have settled for a point - then pops up Wissa. We did celebrate but only when the West Ham fans left, were we in full voice after the game. Thought the stadium is truly awful, give me the 17k BCS any time of the week."
- Indian Bee

"They had nothing on the bench. They're going to drop like a stone soon, they can't keep it up. You need a big squad to cope with European football every week."
- Mr Cynical

"Lovely to go into the international break on a high. Rubbish goalkeeping from Fabianski for our winner."
- hanworthbee

"Sitting with West Ham fans they thought the ref was awful but had no sympathy for the assault on Baptiste or Jansson or Canos. They put out their top XI so were not underestimating us and respecting us, but Antonio was not on his game today and Soucek had a very off game. 1-1 would have been a fair reflection of the game."
- Leonardo

"Dare I say that i'm not sure where Benrahma would fit in our team at the moment? Obviously he's pure quality but could you have him in that middle 3? You wouldn't drop Bryan for him right now that's for certain."
- upnorthbee

"What a **** set of fans they have. Never seen so many Football Factory wannabe's spend so long in a game putting so much of their effort into goading and staring at the other team's fans. They aren't there for the football. Scummy bunch and I'm glad I don't have to watch football every other week in that soulless place."
- Isleworth_Bee

"This was West Ham’s best 11 and they still lost. TF got the tactics spot on and West Ham fans around me couldn’t understand why Moyes didn’t make any substitutions."
- Indian Bee

"The West Ham team was assembled for north of £150m and for most of the first half they were made to look bang average. We last played West Ham in the league in April 1993. They smashed us 4-0 and marched on to the PL whilst we slid back to the third tier. Today we met as equals and got our just rewards."
- Untouchable

"That was a great day out. I’ve never been to a game with that size crowd, I know we sounded great but when they were singing 'Bubbles' at the start and when they sang after scoring the stadium was electric. Tremendous result."
