UEFA have ruled that West Ham United may not sell tickets to supporters for the Europa League tie in Vienna - despite thousands of fans having already secured and paid for travel and accommodation.
The club has also been fined €30,000 by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) for what were described as "crowd disturbances" during and surrounding the trip to Genk, which ended in a 2-2 draw, and a further €4,500 for "throwing of objects".Naturally supporters who have already spent considerable funds on securing travel to Austria for the game are furious at the decision, which comes just a week before West Ham are due to face the Austrians.
West Ham were previously fined €60,000 for the same charge - the "throwing of objects" - following the home tie against Rapid Vienna last month, during which visiting Austrian fans fought police and hurled a large water fountain into the home stand.
As a result of those disturbances Vienna's fans were barred from attending the club's Europa League away tie against Dinamo Zagreb.
