We didn't deserve to win, admits Sou

West Ham goalscorer Tomas Soucek admitted to being hugely frustrated after West Ham failed to beat Brighton for a NINTH successive match at the London Olympic Stadium.

On the scoresheet for the first time since netting on the opening day of the season at Newcastle, the Czech midfielder felt "disappointed" after the Hammers conceded in the 89th minute to drop two vital points.

Yet like many he was similarly disappointed at the VAR decision to rule out what would've been a second goal shortly after the half time interval - even though he felt the Hammers probably didn't quite play well enough to deserve all three points.

“We were winning 1-0 and maybe should have had the second goal but we conceded, so we are disappointed,” he told Amazon Prime. “It’s frustrating for us because this was one we wanted to win today.

"It was a bad goal for us [to conceded] because we didn’t clear our box after the first moment when the player crossed, then they scored a nice goal. It was a nice finish, but it was our mistake and we should play better than that.

“We should keep the ball better and maybe we didn’t deserve to win for our performance, but we were so close to doing so, so it’s disappointing.”

And as for his goal that got the Hammers off to the perfect opening, he added: "I was happy to score the goal and help the team at the start. “It has been a long time since I scored in the first game of the season so I hope I will add many goals in the future.

“I look forward to this period because we only play games. It’s the best time for us and I look forward to every game, and it’s another important one for us against Chelsea on Saturday.”
