And the forward, who is reportedly keen to try his luck in the Premier League is reported to have been the subject of a loan offer from West Ham - a bid that was immediately rejected, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
According to the writer, West Ham approached Flamengo with view to taking the player on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season.
However the Rubro-Negro are not willing to allow the player, who is valued around the £35million mark, to leave Brazil on a temporary basis.
Barbosa has scored 104 goals in 147 games in his native country and has previously spent time in Europe, when he joined Inter Milan in 2016.
However the move proved to be ill-fated and he played just nine times for the Serie A side before returning to his home country last January on a permanent basis in a deal reportedly worth €18.5m.
Barbosa, who began his career with Santos has fetured for Brazil from Under 15 to Under 23 level and on 17 occasions for the full national side, for whom he has scored five goals.
