West Ham United have completed the capture of 17-year-old prospect Callum Marshall from Irish club Linfield FC.

The young forward agreed a three-year deal with the Hammers last month and completes his move following a successful trial period.

“I’d like to welcome Callum to West Ham United," said Academy Manager Ricky Martin. "We’re delighted to have him sign for the club.

“Callum came over before Christmas and trained with our Under 18s. He made a really big impact and impression here, so we’re now excited to welcome him to east London and into our Academy of Football family. We hope he will have a very successful career."

Meanwhile Linfield manager David Healy added: "“I want to wish Callum every success with this exciting new challenge that he’s now setting out upon. It’s a wonderful opportunity for him at such a leading Premier League club in West Ham United.

"He’s been training with our first team squad all season and he’s made a very positive impression on all our players and staff. We are sure he has the attitude and determination that will be required to make the most of this amazing opportunity that has come his way.

"Everyone at Linfield is delighted with the recognition that both Callum and the club’s Scholarship scheme has earned and we will all be monitoring Callum’s progress with a keen interest.”

Marshall made five appearances (three as a substitute) and scored once for Linfield's first team before moving to England. He also played in the Linfield Swifts team which lost 1-0 to Newington in the Christmas Day Seaview Steel and Sons Cup Final.
