West Ham to 'benefit' from VAR

West Ham United's FA Cup tie with Leeds United with be one of only nine games to employ VAR in the competition's third round.

Of 32 ties being staged across the coming weekend, only those matches hosted at Premier League grounds will have the 'benefit' of VAR, as the competition is not licensed for the use of the controversial system.

“Video assistant referees (VAR) provide match officials with additional support and should be utilised wherever possible,” said the FA. “However, only Premier League stadiums are currently licensed to use VAR due to the infrastructure, workforce and costs that are required.”

Although VAR has been in use in the Premier League since 2019, the FA Cup began using it a year earlier - but only at selected grounds and in selected rounds. Last season VAR was used in the Cup at top flight grounds, but only up until the quarter final stage.

The technology was not used by the Football League this season which meant Tottenham's winning goal in the Carabao Cup quarter final tie with West Ham was allowed to stand, despite replay's confirming that Lucas Moura's 34th minute strike should've been disallowed for offside.

The other ties that will be using VAR this weekend are as follows:

Leicester City v Watford
Liverpool v Shrewsbury Town
Manchester United v Aston Villa
Newcastle United v Cambridge United
Tottenham Hotspur v Morecambe
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Sheffield United

Meanwhile these third round matches, on which you may use 25 zł bez depozytu will not be featuring VAR - including West Bromwich Albion vs Brighton, even though the former have the technology installed at The Hawthorns due to having been a member of the Premier League last season:
