West Ham United coach Stuart Pearce confirmed that the club remain interested in re-signing Manchester United's Jesse Lingard during the current transfer window, which closes next week.

"Jesse is a commodity who is not playing for his football club that would be a benefit to a lot of clubs in the Premier League," he told Talksport on Tuesday. "Ours is certainly one of them, there is no doubt.

"Everyone is aware that we tried to get Jesse back again last summer and that will continue probably in this window as well.

"But that is down to Jesse. Jesse has six months of his contract left, he will decide and Manchester Untied more importantly will decide what his future is for the next six months."

"I feel it's a great shame that a player with that talent is not playing regularly," added Pearce. "He had a wonderful six months [at West Ham] and got himself back in the England team.

"If he turns up at West Ham in the next three or four days it'll be utopia, but I'll still be pleased if he goes somwhere else in the Premier League just to see him playing again."

Meanwhile Pearce has named the player who he claims is the club's hardest trainer.

And it may come as no surprise to learn that the former England international's chosen man is fellow defender Craig Dawson!

Speaking on Talksport on Tuesday morning, Pearce - who once carried on playing for West Ham despite having broken his leg - gave Dawson the ultimate accolade from a fellow pro.

And the 59-year-old also gave special mentions to Kurt Zouma, Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek and Nikola Vlasic, all of whom have similarly impressed David Moyes' right hand man on the training pitches at Rush Green.

Meanwhile Pearce named Mark Noble as the club's best dressed player, Jarrod Bowen as the player with the best taste in music and Declan Rice with the worst - but also his "teacher's pet", as the 23-year-old skipper consistently provides excellent performances.

Andriy Yarmolenko was nominated by Pearce as the club's most skilful player while Kevin Nolan was his greatest "party animal" and manager Moyes the "most superstitious" member of the camp.
