West Ham United's lengthy unbeaten run finally came to an end at home to Leicester City - the last team to inflict defeat against Mark Robson's side.

The Hammers, unbeaten in nine games in all competitions since going down 2-1 at Leicester went down by the same scoreline at home to the Foxes, thanks to an 89th minute winner for the visitors at Rush Green.

Having fallen behind early on in Monday afternoon's clash, the Hammers levelled via a fantastic Sonny Perkins strike - only to end the game beaten after conceding in the closing moments of the game.

"I thought Leicester were stronger than us in the second half," admitted Robson, who saw his team beaten for the first time since he succeeded Dmitri Halajko last November.

"I thought they caused us problems and created chances. We maybe need to be a bit more clinical, but overall I’m just disappointed with the second half.

"We didn’t do enough and there were too many stray passes from some of the more experienced players in our team. We gave the ball away and we didn’t have any real flow, which was a bit disappointing.

“It was an individual mistake for their second goal which is something we’ve got to improve upon. Players make mistakes and that’s fine, but you’ve got to learn from them."

In between the two Leicester defeats West Ham have beaten Liverpool (3-0), Manchester City (1-0), Blackburn Rovers (1-0), Swansea City (4-2), Crystal Palace (4-2), Leeds United (3-0) and Exeter City (3-0).

They also drew with Wolves (0-0) and Arsenal (1-1) before experiencing defeat for the first time since 1 November.

"We’re going to give the boys a bit of a rest," added Robson. "It’s been a really busy spell and there’s not been a lot of time to recover, so we’ve got a bit of time now where we can do that.

“But in a couple of days we’ll be back on it again, preparing and getting ready for Manchester United away next week.”
