David Moyes is casting his net far and wide as he seeks to add additional firepower to West Ham United's squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

And today it has been claimed he is taking a keen interest in New York City striker Valentin Castellanos, who has been interesting several clubs in recent months due to his good form of late.

The 23-year-old, an Argentina youth international has spent the last three seasons in the USA where he has bagged goals galore for his current side.

Having struck 23 times in 36 appearances for NYC last season he has once again come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders, with 11 goals from 16 games already during the current campaign for the reigning league champions.

Valued at around £13million by his current club, Castellanos - the winner of last season's Golden Boot in the MLS - is viewed as a potential bargain basement signing for West Ham.

Argentine side River Plate were also keen to secure the services of the up and coming striker but have been put off by his asking price, which is reported to be beyond their means.

* In other transfer-related news today, Rennes defender Nayed Aguerd is back in the news again following further reports claiming West Ham are involved in negotiations with the French club.

And rather than repeat what's already been said, here instead is a video of the player - whose lack of pace has been questioned in some quarters - going from one penalty box to the other in the space of just seven seconds!

* Brighton defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma is another name mentioned in dispatches today, as David Moyes seeks to expand his central midfield roster.

Valued (almost certainly on the high side) at around the £30million mark by some sources, the Mali international has spent the last four years on the south coast but has just one year of his current five-year contract left to run - leaving the Seagulls ready to accept bids for the player.

* Elsewhere today Jacob Steinberg (Guardian) states that West Ham still view Chelsea striker Armando Broja - who spent last season on loan at Southampton - as a "key target", while other sources suggest that "West Ham are expected to make an offer for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse".

Meanwhile Sparta teenage prodigy Adam Hlozek, long linked with a move to West Ham is expected to seal a £13million move to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in the coming days.
