West Ham United's Aji Alese has enjoyed a season to remember.

The 21-year-old centre half made his first team debut in West Ham's Europa League clash with Dinamo Zagreb last year and has frequently featured on the bench for David Moyes' Premier League squad this season.

And a thoroughly productive campaign was capped when Alese was named as the winner of the Premier League 2 Goal of the Season award for a fantastic solo effort against Swansea in a Premier League Cup fixture last December.

"It's a great achievement to win the Premier League 2 Goal of the Season," he told West Ham's website. "There were a lot of great goals nominated so to be chosen over those is a big honour.

"We've done really well this season too so, for me personally to come out of the campaign with something to show for it, is a nice feeling.

"It's probably the best goal I've ever scored so it means a lot that the delegates have seen that and voted for it. Hopefully I do it it again in the future and I can get even more goals!"

Picking up the ball via an interception inside his own half, Alese burst through the Swansea lines and ended a mazy 60-yard run with a cool finish into the bottom left corner to the delight of his team mates - as you may see below.
