Earlier this week Vlasic's former manager at the Russian club, Ivica Olic, claimed the 24-year-old wants out of West Ham having failed to hold down a first team place.

And now it has been reported that the Serie A side have approached the Hammers with view to potenitally taking Vlasic to Italy so that he may kickstart his career.

A permanent move is likely to be out of the question given the player's salary and value, although David Moyes may be open to allowing Vlasic to leave on loan for a season - if he can sign a suitable replacement.

One midfielder cited as a potential target within the last 12 hours is Turkish international Orkun Kokcu. The 21-year-old Feyenoord midfielder, valued around the £50million mark is likely to have plenty of suitors following a strong season for his club in the Eredivisie.

Meanwhile Moyes remains keen on Southampton's English international James Ward-Prowse, who would cost a similar fee. The 27-year-old is said to be interested in exploring a move having spent his entire career to date at St Mary's.
