West Ham United have met the minimum fee release clause for Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet.
And the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international is now on his way to London for a medical ahead of a move that will see Cornet sign a five-year contract with the Hammers.With less than 72 hours to go until the beginning of the new season, West Ham have agreed to meet Cornet's £17.5million release clause after Burnley rejected an initial season-long loan offer with view to a permanent transfer 12 months from now.
And the player has given his consent to the transfer, which could be completed by the weekend should the medical pass without a hitch.
A popular figure among Burnley fans for the single season he spent at Turf Moor, Cornet arrived in the Premier League last summer in a €15million switch from Lyon.
He went on to score nine goals in 26 appearances for the Clarets, while taking his tally of international appearances for the Ivory Coast to 29 with four appearances in 2002 so far.
