West Ham have appointed a new director to the club's holding company.

Jiri Svarc, who is listed at LinkedIn as the Managing Director of JPMorgan Chase & Co. has joined the board at WH Holding Ltd, replacing the outgoing Pavel Horsky.

Former footballer Svarc is the latest Czech to become a director of the club

Meanwhile Horsky, who was appointed as a director of WH Holding last November has been appointed to the board of West Ham United FC Limited where he replaces Marek Spurny.

The termination of the appointment of Spurny - who was the Chief Legal Counsel of Daniel Kretinsky's energy group Energeticky a prumyslovy (EPH) - was also announced on Thursday.

Czech Investment banker Svarc, 47, has known West Ham shareholder Kretinsky, a client of his for several years. The fishing and long-distance running fanatic, who specialises in the Central and Eastern Europe regions for JPMorgan has spent plenty of time in London during his career.

Speaking in a interview some years ago Svarc, who is fluent in both English and German, said of Kretinsky: "I would dare to say that Dan and I are good business partners, we get along.

"I got to know him as a very fair person, he always does what he says. In his companies, he emphasises teamwork and is very open to the opinions of others."

And with regards to his interest in football, Svarc - who is a fan of Czech minnows FC Predni Kopanina, a club he has featured in goal for before - added: "Football is a phenomenon. Everyone is rooting for someone, including the board of directors of large banks."

* In other news, West Ham have appointed the Commonwealth Games Federation (GGF) media and communications manager Tom Degun as public relations and public affairs lead.

Degun joins the Head of Communication Ian Taylor's team at the club.

"Following nearly four fantastic years at the CGF, culminating in a hugely successful Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, I am excited to be starting a new challenge at West Ham next month," Degun told insidethegames.

"West Ham is an incredible club doing great things on and off the pitch, so it is a dream come true to join a top Premier League side that is making such a positive impact across London and in my own county of Essex."
