Declan Rice achieved his dream of lifting silverware in a West Ham shirt when leading the team to a 2-1 win against Fiorentina in the Conference League Final.

And in doing so, he became the youngest player to captain an English team to a major UEFA trophy since Bobby Moore led the Hammers to the Cup Winners Cup trophy some 58 years earlier!

Moore was precisely 24 years and 37 days old when he captained Ron Greenwood's side to victory against 1860 Munich at Wembley on 19 May 1865.

And that is just 107 days younger than Rice was - at 24 years and 144 days - when he led David Moyes' team to their Conference League success against Fiorentina in Prague.

Meanwhile one member of that 1965 team - Sir Geoff Hurst - tweeted his congratulations to the Class of 23 in the wake of last night's stunning success.

"Massive Congratulations to David Moyes and the boys," wrote Hurst, whose Cup Winners Cup success was sandwiched between an FA Cup win against Preston and the 1966 World Cup win with England.

"After 58 years another well deserved European success. I couldn’t be happier for everyone involved with our fantastic club."
