West Ham are reported to have reached an agreement with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to extend the capacity of the London Olympic Stadium to 68,000.
With the current capacity restricted by license to 62,500, the arena has several thousand seats that currently remain unused on a match-by-match basis.However that is all set to change after it was revealed that West Ham have secured an agreement with the LLDC to employ the currently-unused seating.
Doing so would make the arena the second largest in the Premier League once more, behind only Manchester United's Old Trafford (74,310) and ahead, once more, of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium (60,704) and Tottenham's White Hart Lane (62,850).
And the cost to West Ham? Estimated at just £200,000 extra per year, in addition to the £3.5million p/a the club currently pay to use the Stratford stadium.
The stadium is also hotly-tipped to receive a naming rights partner soon; international financial services provider Allianz are widely suggested to be close to reaching an agreement with the LLDC.
