West Ham confirm new pre-season friendly

West Ham will face Hungarian outfit Ferencváros in a pre-season friendly at their Austrian training camp next week.

Pascal Jansen's reigning Nemzeti Bajnokság I champions will provide the first opposition for the Hammers this pre-season when the two teams meet on Monday 15 July.

And the game will offer a first opportunity for new Head Coach Julen Lopetegui to take a look at his new squad in a competitive environment.

Speaking about the week in Austria, which begins today, Lopetegui told West Ham's website the players should be prepared for hard work as they begin preparations for the new Premier League season, which commences next month.

"The demands are going to be very high," he said. "We know our start to the Premier League already and we have to take advantage in the pre-season. We have to work very hard to be able to be ready to start at a competitive level.

"I can ensure they are ready to work very hard - this is for sure - and I think that they are going to enjoy it.

"I have explained to them why we are going to try to achieve different ways to work, and I think that we will try to explain to them why we work in this way - but after they have to be ready to work very hard and to have high demands."
