West Ham United have completed the signing of Netherlands Under 21 winger Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.

At 22, the former star of Elland Road reduced the average squad age considerably and, importantly, offers Head Coach Julen Lopetegui a genuine left-sided midfield threat.

“I’m very happy, and I can’t wait to get started,” Summerville said. "“It's the perfect next step for my career.

"West Ham United is a club with lots of ambition and great players, so I’m really excited to be here and to get going.

"I always try to follow my heart, and I had the feeling that this is the best place for me to continue developing as a player, and to push my potential as much as possible."

And Summerville insisted he was in east London to make more memories for the fans, as West Ham look towards adding further honours to 2023's historical Conference League success in Prague.

“I'm here to help write more history and I'd love to help West Ham get back into Europe," he added.

"I want to contribute lots of goals and assists, and I'm so excited to meet my teammates and the fans, and get out there now.”

Meanwhile Head of Recruitment, TIm Steidten, called the signing "a statement of intent" from the club.

"We feel Crysencio will enhance our existing depth in the attacking third," he explained. "He is an exciting player with blistering pace, agile movement and an abundance of creativity off the wing.

"He has already proved himself in English football, having been a key player for Leeds United in both the Premier League and Championship over the last few years.

“This signing is another statement of intent. We continue to work efficiently to evolve our squad ahead of the beginning of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Adding young players with the pedigree of Crysencio will help us to reach our potential, moving forwards.

“We are all confident that Crysencio has a bright future ahead and we look forward to seeing him continue to go from strength to strength.”
