West Ham United's board have responded to the recent boycott of the pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo by reversing some of the changes to concessions that had previously been announced.
Writing in an email to supporters to promote next month's derby with Chelsea, the club confirmed they were partly rolling back the recent amendments in order to re-introduce discounts in seating bands 5 and 6, areas of the London Olympic Stadium furthest from the pitch and commonly know as 'the Gods', for ALL first team fixtures. And following the furious response to removing them, concessions have also been reintroduced in every band of the stadium bar the 1966 and 1966 West areas for all matches excluding those decreed as category A or AA - those high-ranking London derbies and fixtures against the likes of Champions Manchester City or Liverpool.
However campaigners fighting for the reversal of the recent concession changes are vowing to continue the battle until ALL concessions have been returned - including those for season ticket holders, which are not mentioned in the club's latest missive.
"I think its a very good victory and will benefit many West Ham supporters," a Hammers United committee member told KUMB. "I personally have friends who will now be able to bring children as a result.
"Now we carry on and intensify the campaign until concessions are restored for season ticket holders."
In other news, the supporters' petition opposing season ticket price rises and changes to concessions rates has now topped 16,000 signatures.
The email sent to season ticket holders advising them of the latest changes
