New season, same old complaints about losing to West Ham. G'wan, Palace, make some noise...

"That was fucking awful, absolutely diabolical. Eze looks awful and has cost us a goal when we had it in attack. We are a sorry mess."
- Nicholas91

"Decent first 60 minutes, the only difference was we didn’t take any of the chances we’d created. Taking off Lerma and putting Kamada on was an absolute colossal error and I just think why Glasner thought it was a good idea. West Ham I think had a total of 0.17 xG from open play before Lerma went off and we had pretty much nullified Bowen and Kudus. All managers make mistakes and I don’t expect perfection but it was a really poor decision that cost us the game."
- Stinger1

"My main overall concerns were that West Ham looked bigger and stronger and we still look rubbish at defending corners. There were two in the first half where a West Ham player got there first but missed on each occasion, but that problem persists."
- cROYdonrogers

My main take outs. We were the better side in the first half and deserved to be in front. The heads dropped after we went one down and this was disappointing. Wharton was brilliant up until the first goal - and I wouldn't be in any hurry to sell Guehi."
- PatrickA

"Decent first half, absolutely woeful secod. West Ham barely threatened us and we handed them a 2-0 win. Like last week, unbelievably frustrating as we could and should have been 2-0 up first half. Oli’s got to earn his crust now and ideally with the help from the board. We’re probably going to be going into the international break with three losses on the trot given our terrible recent history with Chelsea and always rolling over."
- andyocpfc

"Just back from the game and disgusted at the second half performance. No desire, no movement, no creativity. I thought it was one of Eze's worst games - amazing talent but bone idle. Wharton did some class passing, but we couldn't get the ball on the net. Overall a disappointing performance against an average West Ham side."
- Rogers Don

"We looked clueless. And to think I've stayed up until 4am to watch this. We look like we are in for a regulation battle."
- Rogers the legend

"Another depressing start to a season. All the more worse after such a splendid end to last season; we've gone backwards. Today showed we can ill afford to let Guehi leave. Richards benefited playing alongside Guehi and Andersen, without them he'll struggle. Wharton stood out again today, as did Guehi. And as happened at Brentford the substitutions cost us. Kamada for Lerma?"
- Ruskin Old Boy

"Hugely frustrating day. For the first 55/60 minutes West Ham weren’t in it and we could have been two-nil up. Eze and Edouard both missed good chances and the well worked set piece routine where Eze hit the bar. If you don’t take your chances in this league you get punished."
- GB2506

"Had the pleasure (!) of sitting right next to Glasner in the main stand. He seemed incredibly frustrated with Eddy during the match. Often berating OE to his colleagues and showing massive frustration."
- chrisophiex

"The MotD highlights seem to perfectly reflect the game. We should have been a goal or two up, but didn't take our chances. They rode their luck, got a first that had at least three rebounds that could have gone anywhere, then suckered us on the break for a second. It will come."
- Jim's Cannon

"Guehi, absolutely outstanding in that central role. Wharton good first half, less effective in the second. Good to see Riad improve over the course of the 90 minutes. Looks like a footballer but I worry about his pace. Edouard so, so poor. West Ham big, aggressive and well organised, We have lost a lot in the dark arts with Ayew and Andersen leaving. We need some nastiness."
- Costello

"That was shit. just weak as piss and too casual. Kamada sub was awful as well, left us with no midfield. Overall we look like we’ve gone backwards two steps. OG's subs last few games have been poor."
- Thefunkymonk

"Fine margins. The first half performance was pretty good but all turned on the substitutions on 60 minutes for both sides. We missed our chances and they took theirs. Would've helped us facing Man City and Arsenal first few games to get them out of the way, rather than throwing away points against Brentford and West Ham when we are half cooked!"
- SussexRed&Blue

"Like Brentford, West Ham didn’t cause us too many defensive problems other than in transition phases. Henderson hasn’t been too busy in either game. Three of the goals that we have conceded in the two games have been through breakaways down our left-hand side. The two performances have been patchy to date and the games could have gone either way. I was disappointed to see the heads go down after West Ham scored as if there was a lack of self belief that we could get back in the game, even though there was plenty of time left. I’m not sure we have players who deal well with adversity and have the character, grit and determination to claw our way back into games."
- PatrickA

Positives. We were by far the better team, we controlled the game well. Wharton is a star, his range of passing with both feet is something to behold and he will no doubt be playing for England soon.
We are creating chances, it’s just not clicked yet. Negatives. Eduoard, so poor. Glasner's subs have been strange to say the least. Hopefully we can get one or two in and things will start to click."
- LikeMac

"What the hell is going on? Two very disappointing results - IMO six points thrown away, both Brentford and West Ham we had the chances to win and should have won both games! Parish has got to take some/a lot of responsibility for this - our transfer dealings/strategy have been nothing short of shambolic."
- Plaistow Eagle

"West Ham scored two against us in our last home match as well, but we scored five so it didn't matter then. Olise was the key in that last match, that and the fact that the team were firing on all cylinders on top form, with a massive amount of confidence. Yesterday, followed a week of disruption and distractions with players leaving and transfer rumours, and the cohesiveness of the team had largely been lost, and we are having to learn to play together, all over again. We fans are going to have to settle for another season of ups and down with little consistency and no chance of Europe, as par for the course."
- SE25 exile

"Taking Lerma off for Kamada was a disaster, and potentially led to both goals. I understand he had a yellow, but Decoure was the answer if he was so worried about it becoming a red card. Glasner made a mistake. I hope he realizes this."
- Daddyorc

"What's concerning is that neither Brentford or West Ham were good and yet we've struggled against both. A point at least against Chelsea is an absolute must or we go into the international break pointless."
- kennybrowns leftfoot

"Let's not mince around. This start to the season wasn't good enough. No way near. We've dropped six points against teams we should be beating if we want to kick on this season. Same old story. Piss poor recruitment this summer. Disappointing all round. Let's not pretend that losing the first two games of the season is OK. It isn't. We need to lose the small club mentality and raise our standards, as do the players, if we want to get higher than 10th again."
- Mongoid

"Alarming how poor we were second half. Goals change games, we missed our chances first half and West Ham who weren’t threatening too much at the time punished us second half, but what was worse was how disjointed we looked after that, it was all a bit huff and puff and aimless."
-BromleyMonkey

"Now I'm calmer I can see that we probably shaded the first half and could've (should've? ) been a goal up. West Ham weren't good at all. Second half performance is a concern - West Ham were a bit better, but we just looked off the pace mentally. We came up short against a team we were significantly better than last year. As we did last week."
- eagleDAN

"Picking up zero points from Brentford away and West Ham at home is not good. No club that does that will finish above 16th in the league this season. Feels like another year where the aim is solely to avoid relegation."
- sheepy

"Would love to know what Glasner honesty makes of this. Someone said to me today it could be worse. I said 'yes, we could sell Guehi next week'."
- wrightchipvcfc

"There’s no need to worry. There will still be three teams worse than us. I’m sure Everton fans are not delirious tonight either. We could always bring back Wilfred?"
- kevlee

"At moments like this you miss Roy Hodgson, such a good manager."
- beak

"Pushing on to Europe, my arse."
- xian1

"So that free kick where Wharton nudged the ball and the WHU player ran toward it... What should have happened on that? The ref didn't see the obvious touch by Wharton, then waved off the WH player disrupting our free kick. I think the WH player should have gotten a yellow for that, then could VAR have reviewed it? The whole sequence was bizarre. The ref being blind benefited us, but if the ref truly believed that the ball wasn't touched, how is possible NOT to give the defender a card there?"
- Wilbraham413

"That free kick was actually really heads up on Paqueta's part. He should charge the ball if he sees it move. If the role was reversed, I'd be livid that the ref didn't see Wharton kick the ball. Also, I'm still trying to figure what the benefit was to that elaborate free kick design, which ended up with Eze kicking the ball five feet further up the pitch, while giving all the West Ham defenders loads of time to run up and block it..."
- Wilbraham413

"Something uniquely irritating about West Ham, isn't there? All those Essex gobshites playing dress-up in the away end rubbing it in, horrible."
- iheartcpfc

"WHU have spent over £130m this summer and their bench showed that. We are skating on very thin ice. If Guehi leaves, it will be a real struggle. As usual with Palace, its down to the wire in the transfer window. I bet we end up spending the least of everyone. Hopefully I am dreadfully wrong!"
- radicalsteve

"I do think people are overreacting a bit, for 60 minutes the performance was fine. West Ham were a good team last season and upgraded their manager and have invested heavily in their squad. They gave as good as they got against Villa last weekend."
- Stinger1

"It is worrying that we lose to Brentford and West Ham, we should expect to get a point against those sorts of teams."
- georgenorman

"What was the song they kept singing about a big fucking turban, or something?"
- TopKnot

"Big fucking German" for Fullkrug, I think..."
- PemboExpress

"Very depressing Palace result. Hate losing to West Ham."
- SpyroCrystal

"Just to pick up how good Soucek and Bowen were in getting the ball boy out from under the collapsed hoarding, unlike the East End morons who collapsed it and were still jumping up and down oblivious to the danger they had caused."
- ex hibitionist

"Injuries or worse could have occurred [to the ball boy], and the authorities have simply got to act. My modest suggestion - maybe too modest - would be that at the very least players should not be allowed to go beyond the touchline (which at the London Stadium would certainly keep them out of trouble!). In the sixties and later a scorer would get a pat on the back and a couple of handshakes and they'd all trot back to halfway - blimey, what innocent days."
- JRW2

"Away fans have regularly surged down that open alley to the front when they score. If it wasn't for Soucek's quick thinking and strength and Bowen pulling our ball boy out as Soucek lifted the hoarding. it could so easily have been a lot worse. We will be lucky to escape without some kind of regulatory penalty for that. No matter what, all stadium should have far stronger perimeter protection than that. It literally just collapsed when a number of fans leant over it. Not good."
- dreamwaverider

"On another day we win that 4-0. Can't really complain against the recent (as they kept singing) Champions of Europe. Overall positive and solid performance and it overall should be a good season."
- bonzo
