West Ham are hoping to tie up a transfer deadline day move for Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also operate on the left wing is the subject of a late loan bid from the Hammers.Julen Lopetegui is hoping to snap up the promising Austrian-born England youth international, who began his professional career with Northampton Town before being snapped up Aston Villa in 2021.
Having made 14 first team appearances for Villa, he was sold to Chelsea in a £20million deal just one year later.
Like many of his fellow squad members at a club with in excess of 40 pros on their books, Chukwuemeka has struggled for first team minutes yet has still managed 23 first team appearances for the Blues in the last two seasons.
However with little prospect of braking into Chelsea's first team on a regular basis, he has been made available for transfer - and West Ham looked set to bring him from west to east London ahead of tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.
