Nayef Aguerd is closing in on a move the Spain, with the transfer deadline just hours away.

The Moroccan international is currently in negotiations with Real Sociedad, who are currently 13th in La Liga - although Villareal have expressed interest in the player too.

And should he accept the terms offered, Aguerd is set to move to Spain on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

The 28-year-old centre half made it clear earlier in the summer that he has no future in east London, having been dropped at the end of last season by David Moyes and not used so far this season by new Head Coach Julen Lopetegui.

And he made it equally clear that his preferred destination was Spain, which is of course only separated from his home country Morocco by the Strait of Gibraltar.

As a result West Ham have spent the last few days trying to find a Spanish club willing to offer Aguerd a home - and it looks as if those efforts have finally paid off.
