Goals from Tomas Soucek and a first in claret and blue for Aaron Wan-Bissaka secured an unexpected three points for Julen Lopetegui's side at St James' Park.
The Hammers, unfancied ahead of the game were good value for the three points against a Newcastle side beaten only once at home this season prior to tonight, and having beaten Arsenal and Chelsea at home in their last two outings. And after surviving an early scare when Newcastle had the ball in the net after just four minutes, the Hammers rarely looked back after Soucek nodded the Irons ahead six minutes later when he connected with Crysencio Summerville's corner.
Ahead at the break via West Ham's first goal from a corner this season, it took just eight minutes for the Irons to double their lead as marauding full back Wan-Bissaka burst into the penalty area before converting skipper Jarrod Bowen's inside pass.
And Newcastle simply had no answer to that, as the Hammers strolled to victory having safely seen out the remaining time.
