The return of Kudus - but too soon for Fullkrug?

Julen Lopetegui is ready to welcome Mo Kudus back into his squad for tomorrow night's trip to Leicester - but admits it's still likely to be too soon for Niclas Fullkrug.

The German international has barely kicked a ball in anger for the Hammers since making a £25million move from Dortmund last summer. However he is close to a return, according to Lopetegui.

"He [Fullkrug] is improving and is very close," said the Spanish Head Coach during his Monday morning pre-match press conference.

"Tomorrow I think is going to be difficult, but hopefully he will be ready in the next matches. He won't be fully fit - three months is a long time without matches, but thankfully he is close to recovery.

"I won't talk about the line-up," he continued. "We have had a little problem in the last match with Jean-Clair Todibo, so we need to see how he is.

"But Mohammed Kudus is back, but he's missed a lot of matches. He's fit and ready, which is good news for us because it's a good thing to have more players available."

Meanwhile Lopetegui waved off a question asking how the team would respond in the wake of being thrashed at home by Arsenal at the weekend.

"We are focused on the next challenge and getting ready for Leicester now," he replied. "I prefer to talk about tomorrow than the last match, because that's the past now. We were disappointed with the last match, but we're putting our focus on tomorrow."
