Graham Potter says he is looking forward to returning to his former club - even with an angry German striker in tow.
Potter, who made his name on the south coast during a productive spell at the AmEx Stadium admitted he will always look back fondly on his time with the Seagulls - but admitted he would be going all out to condemn his former employers to defeat. And he also responded to questions regarding Niclas Fullkrug's extraordinary outburst following last week';s home draw against the Premier League's worst team, Southampton.
"I have nothing but respect, love and gratitude for my time there," said Potter, when quizzed about his return during his pre-match press conference. "There were fantastic people, and I have great memories. Obviously I want to win, but I'll always look back fondly on my time there."
And one player set to join him on that journey is Fullkrug, who let rip at his team mates following last weekend's failure to beat the Saints - on whom Potter admitted he would've preferred to have such comments kept in private.
"Sometimes you have to understand that after a game everyone's emotional," said the Head Coach, when asked for his thoughts on the German international's post-match interview. "It should be that way, but when you're a leader you have to accept the emotion and put things in perspective.
"Niclas wears his heart on his sleeve, and he's entitled to his opinion. For me, it's better to have conversations in private. You have to be able to be honest, and to think about the team as well.
"I'm very supportive of the players. I understand it's tough, and we have to demand more, but fundamentally I want to help them. Together we have to work and find solutions, and give the fans something better."
The manager also confirmed he will be without the services of Edson Alvarez (back injury) plus regular absentees such as Michail Antonio and Crysencio Summerville. You may watch Potters' press conference in full below.
