West Ham United have completed the permanent signing of central defender Jean Clair Tobido from French club Nice.
And consequently the 25-year-old's previous club, Barcelona, stand to net a windfall bonus of some £7million as a result of a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that saw the French international return to his home country from Spain in 2021.Todibo, who arrived at West Ham on a season-long loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent last summer should he make five first team appearances triggered the payout after West Ham's Premier League status was assured following Ipswich Town's relegation on Saturday - even though the Hammers were beaten 3-2 by Brighton.
And the Hammers will now have to stump up in the region of €40million to the Ligue 1 side to complete Todibo's permanent transfer.
Todibo made what was only his 23rd appearance for West Ham in that 3-2 reversal against The Seagulls at the Amex Stadium on Saturday. Only nine times since he signed has he played the full 90 minutes.
