Graham Potter is closing in on his first major signing of pre-season - a new goalkeeping coach.
Former coach Javi Valero, who has spent the last seven years in east London having been signed by Manual Pellgrini in 2018 was allowed to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season. And KUMB understands Potter is on the verge of announcing the Spaniard's replacement - Casper Ankergren, with whom the Head Coach previously worked with at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ankergren, 41, has been working in the same role for Danish side Brondby since 2021 - a club with whom he holds a close affiliation due to having spent six years as a player at the Brondby Stadium between 2001 and 2007.
However reports emerging from Denmark suggest he is set to be announced as Potter's latest addition to his backroom team, with his Brondby contract due to expire at the end of June.
Ankergren was approached by Danish media outlet Tipsbladet for comment earlier this week, but refused to respond. His signing should be confirmed within the next few days.
Ankergren discusses his time at Brighton, where he previously worked with Hammers boss Potter
