Jarrod Bowen was a second half substitute for England on Thursday night as the Three Lions won the battle of Britain.

Thomas Tuchel's side eased to a 3-0 victory against neighbours Wales in a friendly at Wembley, with all three goals coming in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

And Bowen - who once again started on the bench - replaced final goalscorer Bukayo Saka with 70 minutes on the clock to earn his 18th cap for England.

Saka's effort followed two strikes inside the opening 11 minutes from Morgan Rogers (3 minutes) and Ollie Watkins, as the hosts threatened to run riot.

However the Welsh, managed by former Hammer Craig Bellamy managed to restrict England to just three goals on the night and just five shots on target overall.

Elsewhere on international duty, Tomas Soucek captained Czechia to a goalless draw with Croatia in Prague in their World Cup Group L clash. The result leaves Czechia behind their opponents on goal difference at the top of the table.

Meanwhile Konstantinos Mavropanos featured for Greece in their Group C qualifier with Scotland at Hampden Park. The centre-back won his 39th cap for the Greeks who were beaten 3-1, despite having taken an early lean on the night.

Finally, goalkeeper Mads Hermansen’s wait for his first senior Denmark cap continues as he watched his side thrash Belarus 6-0 at the ZTE-Arena in Hungary.

Celtic's 38-year-old stopper Kasper Schmeichel was once again preferred to the former Leicester man by manager Brian Riemer.
