There were a number of on-loam Hammers in action for their respective temporary clubs at the weekend.

Midfielder Jess Ziu made her long-awaited return to league football, coming off the bench for Bristol City in their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday. It marked her first league appearance since May 2024, following her brief comeback in the League Cup last month.

Introduced in the 68th minute with the score level at 1-1, Ziu helped the Robins push forward, with Camila Sáez also playing the full match. Although Rio Hardy struck twice for City, former Hammer Lois Joel’s late equaliser saw the points shared at Gateshead International Stadium. The Robins now prepare to face Aston Villa in the League Cup this weekend.

In the same division, Keira Flannery completed 90 minutes for Charlton Athletic as they drew 1-1 with Sheffield United at The Valley. The midfielder was part of a strong second-half display as Jodie Hutton’s goal secured a point for the league leaders. The Addicks next face Portsmouth in Group C of the League Cup.

Elsewhere, Jessie Stapleton played the full match for Nottingham Forest in a 3-0 defeat away at Durham, with the Tricky Trees now turning their attention to a cup tie against Everton on Sunday.

In the FA Women’s National League, goalkeeper Rebekah Dowsett impressed once again as Watford extended their unbeaten run to ten matches with a 3-1 victory over Hashtag United.

Dowsett played all 90 minutes as goals from Anne Meiwald, Coral Haines, and Maddie Perry sealed the win, moving the Hornets top of the Southern Premier Division. Soraya Walsh was an unused substitute.

Finally, Ruby Warwick’s Barking suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Saltdean United in the London and South East Regional Premier Division but will look to respond when they host Sutton United next weekend.
