Santo seeking to mark Bonds' passing

West Ham United Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo has paid tribute to his predecessor Billy Bonds.

Santo, who is the 13th post-Bonds manager of the Hammers spoke to the media ahead of this afternoon's Premier League clash with Liverpool in Stratford.

And he revealed how he and the squad learned of Billy's passing while they were preparing for this afternoon's meeting.

"We got the news when we were in the dressing room this morning," Santo told Sky Sports. "It's a sad day for all of us at the club. I think Billy Bonds represented what West Ham are all about. Almost 800 appearances for the club. Sadly I didn't have the chance to meet him.

"I know our fans are feeling sad, but let's support the family and let's give [them] a good day in memory of Billy Bonds. I said to the players, 'let's try to make it a memorable day for all of us'."
