It mightn't have been quite enough to lift West Ham out of the bottom three, but Soungoutou Magassa's debut goal for the club secured a vital point for United at Old Trafford.

On a night when the so-called Theatre of Dreams resounded to chorus after chorus of "Billy Bonds' claret and blue army" from the travelling contingent, the Hammers secured what could be a hugely significant point in their battle to avoid relegation.

Having fallen behind to Diogo Dalot's first Premier League goal for more than two years just ahead of the hour mark it seemed as if Nuno Espirito Santo's side were heading for yet another disappointing defeat.

However Magassa's late intervention - the French midfielder stealing in at the far post to convert a saved Jarrod Bowen header from a corner - secured a vital point for United with just seven minutes of normal time left to play.
